Manhattan was born on June 13 of 1996. Not the island in the estuary of the Hudson River, in New York, but our store: It’s more than one decade of total dedication to the dance music from our premises in Teuleries Street, in the very neuralgic centre of the nightlife in this city.

Manhattan Experimentalwas founded by Aníbal Curià and Robert Lamart. At this time the electronic music was arriving at Spain in a more and more powerful waves, there were rising the interest in the dance sounds that were generated and published in maxis of 7, 10 and 12" all over the planet, the population of DJ’s grew, so the birth of a vinyl records store seemed to be the most logical movement: there was a demand of knowledge and music outside, although Lleida is only an small town with 120,000 habitants aprox., so somebody had to go ahead with it, somebody had to give an answer to all that musical agitation.

The store grew at the same time as the public grew, and from 1996Manhattan Experimental Records has been giving new and exciting music to the public. Our challenge was to be updated, being a constant the search in order to be able to satisfy a demand of infinity of styles because that is what was requested by our clients, being able, with time, to extend our supply of innovations and also the classic ones.

In 1998 we decided to increase our service offering also all basic types of instruments, complements and tools for the Deejay and the Producer: Mixers, Turntables, Capsules, Needles, Headphones, CD Players, Amplifiers, Loudspeakers, Bags and Suitcases of transport, Effects, Samplers, Production Software, Audio Interfaces, Midi Controllers, Dj Software, Keyboards, Monitors...
We finally are official distributors of some of the most important brands of the sector as: Vestax, Stanton, Technics, Ortofon, Pioneer, Rodec, Allen&Heath, Sennheiser, Ecler, Ableton, Native Instruments, M-Audio, Korg, Alesis, Krk, Rane, Denon, Numark , Akiyama, Gemini, UDG, Walkasse, Sony, Audiophony, Propellerhead, Behringer, JBL...
Since then, we have been feeding the need of new developments, technological and musical, that the unconditional ones wish on the electronic scene.
From 2003 and on Pep Gaya joined our team, he’s an important active element that has helped to make us better.

When Manhattan Experimental was born, we had a passion: to obtain the music and to share it. We have spent lot of time making a big effort and dedication to get the shipments and delivery time a success and that passion, is still alive inside us. It is for that reason why, besides the location in Lleida, Manhattan Experimental Records has now arrived also to the network with the online store version.
Music doesn’t have limits, and from now on Manhattan Experimental Online Record Store won’t have either. We started in Lleida and now we get to you, wherever you are.
